Matching a mobile air compressor to DTH drilling work

The information a supplier needs to match pressure and air delivery to hole diameter, depth, rock, hammer, and the drilling rig.
Used mobile air compressor for drilling work

Five inputs determine the useful match

Model numbers are a starting point. A practical match depends on hole diameter, target depth, rock hardness, hammer size, and the rig's working method.

  • Required hole diameter and target depth
  • Rock type and expected fracture conditions
  • DTH hammer size and drill-pipe diameter
  • Working altitude and ambient temperature
  • Rig model and current compressor arrangement

Used-compressor checks

Ask for a cold start, pressure build, stable-load test, outlet temperature, engine data, visible oil or air leaks, service history, and close views of the air end and filtration system.

Pressure and delivery figures describe the model. The live test describes the current unit.
