Check the machine's identity first
Request one continuous, walk-around video that starts with a full view of the machine, moves to the model and serial number plate, and ends at the hour meter. This makes it easier to match the documents, hour meter and visible machine to the same unit.
Fresh paint can improve appearance, but it does not prove the condition of the rotary head, mast, main winch, crowd system or track components.

Check key functions and controlled-load performance
Qualified personnel should perform the following function and controlled-load checks according to the applicable equipment manual when equipment and site safety conditions permit. Observe mast raising, rotary-head movement, main winch operation, track travel and steering; record jerky movement, abnormal noise, hydraulic leaks, warning lights and excessive play at pins and guide rails.
